The Author of the Original Work Participated in the Adaptation of the Classic Webtoons

GamePub, the game company, said on December 31st that it would release its new mobile game, Island M, in 2021, with more than 500,000 pre-registrations in seven days. Webtoon Island is one of the representative works of Yang Qingri (illustration) and Yi Renwan (text), which reveals the story of exorcism in a unique and mysterious atmosphere by exposing the secrets of Jeju Island.

Since its first release as a webtoon in 1997, it has been remade in 2016 through Naver Webtoon after a 19-year making, and the gamification has put it back in the public eye.

Island M is an exorcism action role-playing game based on the original character and world view, and the illustration author Yang Qingri of the original work directly involved in the game development work, retaining the details and integrity of the original work, including existing stories and side stories.

Dayamonz

Re-exploration of Professional IP Game

Dayamonz, the game company, also signed an IP contract with Naver’s popular webtoon Tiger Brother last November. Dayamonz is a well-known Korean game company that mainly uses IP to produce games. Naver’s popular webtoon God of High School has been adapted into a mobile game and has been widely favored at home and abroad.

Last year, Dayamonz used the IP of Altman, a famous Japanese hero, to officially launch a mobile game, ULTRAMAN: BE ULTRA, in Japan. It’s a novel way to use Japanese content for secondary creation in South Korea.
