JioMart, an e-commerce platform owned by Reliance Industries, is offering electronic products as the shopping season gets under way. With a strong capital background, JioMart has become India's largest online grocery sales platform in less than a year, and the company hopes to use this momentum to enter the field of electronic products.

At present, the online platforms that Indians are accustomed to using to buy electronic products are Amazon and Flipkart, but JioMart's business will soon be rolled out across India. JioMart currently offers a wide range of consumer electronics products of major brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, Apple and SONY, from Bluetooth headsets and speakers to kitchen appliances, small appliances and personal care products.

According to the Economic Times of India, JioMart will launch smartphones, tablets, televisions and laptops in the coming week.

JioMart has established itself as the largest electronic grocer in India by processing more than 600,000 transactions a day within three months of its launch, according to data analyst Sensor Tower. It was also one of the three most downloaded shopping apps in India in August.

Flipkart and Amazon will face stiff competition from JioMart, which could force electronic retailers that rely on discounts to get their customers into a more aggressive price war.

In addition to groceries and electronics, JioMart has previously announced its moves into fashion, pharmaceuticals and health care.

Reliance has been ramping up its spending on consumer-oriented e-commerce since the start of this fiscal year. After becoming a leader in electronic groceries, the platform has also been testing new features such as regular delivery.
