Battery Life of iPhone 12 Pro vs Previous Generations

Apple has released its new generation, iPhone 12 series this year, with its processor upgraded to a more powerful A14. It’s with OLED “bangs screen” design, and it supports Face ID biometrics and MagSafe.

As for battery capacity, the last generation iPhone 11 (6 inches) and iPhone 11 Pro (5.8 inches) have been upgraded to 3000mAh, while iFixit found battery capacity of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro is reduced to 2815mAh, even with its screen upgraded to 6.1 inches.

A YouTuber has uploaded a video of a test to compare battery life of iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 to YouTube. The video also included iPhone SE 2, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 and iPhone XR. The mobile phone systems of all the smart phones were upgraded to iOS14, and were tested under the condition of open Wi-Fi, no SIM card and the same brightness.

The first 2 hours passed, the remaining battery percentages of iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 11 Pro were both 80%, temporarily keeping the leading places. And the others are iPhone 12 (78%)、iPhone 12 Pro (77%), iPhone 11 (67%), iPhone XR (61%), 2020 iPhone SE (54%).

5 hours and 9 minutes passed, iPhone 11 Pro Max with battery capacity of 3,969mAh kept it leading place, and its remaining battery percentage was 46%. iPhone 11 Pro was in the second place with a remaining battery percentage of 41%, iPhone 12 (30%), iPhone 12 Pro (26%), and the other three (iPhone 11, iPhone XR, iPhone SE 2020) had already run out of power.

In the end, iPhone 11 Pro Max launched last year, won competition, and the ranking was as following:

- No. 1: iPhone 11 Pro Max, launched last year, battery life 8 hours and 29 mins.

- No. 2: iPhone 11 Pro, launched last year, battery life 7 hours and 36 mins.

- No. 3: iPhone 12, launched this year, battery life 6 hours and 41 mins.

- No. 4: iPhone 12 Pro, launched this year, battery life 6 hours and 35 mins.

- No. 5: iPhone 11, battery life 5 hours and 8 mins.

- No. 6: iPhone XR, battery life 4 hours and 31 mins.

- No. 7: 2020 iPhone SE, 4.7 inches, battery life 3 hours and 59 mins.
